PEACE, CULTURAL COMPETENCE AND SOCIAL JUSTICE: MONTESSORI VALUES
&
EDUCATIONAL ASSESSMENTS IN A MONTESSORI CONTEXT

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 17th
8:30am to 5:00pm

“Peace, Cultural Competence and Social Justice: Montessori Values” with Tonya Gibbs
Tonya Bibbs will explore the correspondence between Montessori values and a contemporary agenda of social justice and cultural competence. Session participants will engage in examining and sharing their own experiences as they collaborate in developing new approaches to approaches to issues of social difference.

“Educational Assessment in a Montessori Context” with Dr. Sharon Damore
Sharon Damore will speak to the importance of using multiple measures for assessing student achievement in Montessori educational settings and discuss the pressures imposed by reliance on standardized achievement tests. She will address the important commitment that a Montessori school or teacher must make: how to inform parents about purposes and limitations of standardized testing, and how to articulate the way in which the school will measure and report student achievement.

To register, please contact the Seton Montessori Institute office at (630) 654-0151.
