Paraprofessional Preparation
MECA’s Paraprofessional Course
provides a broad foundation in Montessori philosophy, educational
techniques and classroom practice, geared for those who are involved
with young children at home or professionally. Many successful
Montessori administrators, board members, classroom assistants
and parents have increased their understanding and strengthened
their effectiveness through the course. For others, the course
has been a steppingstone in deciding to pursue full teaching certification.
The Paraprofessional Course covers all the basics of the Montessori
approach. Offered twice a year, in March and in August, the August
course also features a special Administrator’s Track, including
special sessions each day and an additional full day designed to
meet the needs of Montessori administrators and board members.
The Paraprofessional Course can also be presented at your location,
by special arrangement.
The course is four days in length, with a fifth day for those registered
for the Administrators Track. Students are asked for full attendance
and the completion of an assignment in order to receive a certificate.
